Welcome to NBCOT®'s Consumer
page where you can find information on where to go
to locate a certified practitioner in your area and
verify that they are indeed certified by the National
Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc.
(NBCOT®).
What is occupational therapy? Get an overview of
the profession's critical role in the field of rehabilitation.
Learn why you, as a consumer or future consumer of
occupational therapy services, should rely on NBCOT® certification
as an indicator of qualified and competent practice.
Practitioners are required to adhere to the NBCOT® Candidate/Certificant
Code of Conduct and are subject to disciplinary action
for violations of any of the principles described in
the Candidate/Certificant Code of Conduct. While the
vast majority of practitioners maintaining OTR® or
COTA® certification are ethical and competent, NBCOT®'s
Qualifications and Compliance Review process (initiated
by the complaint or application screening process) makes
it possible to identify, discipline or require improvement
from the few who are not. |
